Imagine…

taking a long walk with the family on a new section of trail and discovering a spot along the side – a Trail Hub built just for you. The benches are designed for easy conversation, and there’s ample room to play and explore. Other families are there as well, and the kids begin to play tag.

Our city parks and playgrounds are designed to allow us to interact with our neighbors and community. Trails are linear parks, but often lack the facilities for these connections to take place. While there might be a bench here and there, the space is small and not usually designed for socializing with our neighbors. Let’s change this!

Trail Hubs are more than a rest stop, more than a park bench, and more than a map on a wall. These hubs will have ample room for trail users to take a break, connect with others, space to explore, park your bike, or make a minor repair…maybe your new favorite meet up point. You will also find easily accessible information about the trail system, and permanent recognition for the generous donors supporting our community’s beloved trails.

These Trail Hubs not only help fund the development of nearby trail projects, continued maintenance needs, and overall support for Fort Wayne Trails, Inc, but also allow donors to leave a legacy that will benefit trail users for generations.

How Does Your Donation Help?

Donations raised by Trail Hub donors like you are not only used to build pivotal trail user amenities, but they also support the overall mission of Fort Wayne Trails in the following ways:

• Support our advocacy with local government partners for continued trail development, resource allocation, and coordination of projects.
• Donations raised will be used to assist with planning and construction costs of priority trail projects in the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County.
• Support for programs like Trek the Trails, which educates, informs, and exposes more residents to trails and their benefits.
• 10% of each Trail Hub donation is set aside in a maintenance fund for the Trail Hubs and continued needs of the ever-growing trail network.

THE GOLDEN SPIKE TRAIL HUB

Located next to Glenbrook Commons at Lima Road and Coliseum Blvd on the Pufferbelly Trail. The Landmark Donors are Brian and Kyla Zehr.

COVINGTON ROAD TRAIL HUB

Located on Covington Road close to the Hadley Road intersection. The Landmark Donor is Jan Venderly and the late Paul Stephens.

PAYTON COUNTY PARK TRAIL HUB

Located in Payton County Park off Dunton Road and the Pufferbelly Trail. The Landmark Donor is the Thieme Family Foundation.

Trail Hub Donor Recognition

LANDMARK DONOR PLAQUE

The top of each Trail Hub will feature a 28″ x 11″ cast bronze plaque displaying the Landmark Donor.

OVERALL HUB DONOR PLAQUE

Your generous support will be recognized on a large cast bronze plaque with 50 – 70 additional donors. The plaque will be placed prominently on the side of the monument.

  • Recognition in perpetuity on cast bronze plaque
  • Formal invitation to groundbreaking dedication ceremonies
  • Name recognition formatted by donor(s) first and last name OR in memory/honor of. Donors may choose only one option.
  • Font size reflects the level of gift from Legacy (largest) to Foundation (smallest)

• Permanent naming rights with name & logo at the Trail Hub
• Invited to help with final design elements.

Landmark Donors play a special role by having a Trail Hub named after them or their family, as well as give the gift that builds the hub for trail users and allows for other donors to be recognized. If you are interested, please contact Nicole to inquire about future hub locations.

The Landmark Donor will also have the opportunity to assist with the final design for their hub.

• Sponsors commit to a 3-year pledge supporting Fort Wayne Trails Operations ($6,000 Total Commitment)

• Recognition is displayed on the spine of a Trail Hub Monument for 3 years and is renewable.
