Our Soft Maintenance Teams are dedicated groups of volunteers who help keep our community trails safe, clean, and welcoming. These volunteers support project-based needs such as bollard painting, weed-whacking and trimming, leaf blowing, tree pruning, trail hub cleaning and general trail upkeep. Teams will help ensure our trails remain beautiful and accessible to all. We are actively seeking new team members, both volunteers and project-leader types who feel confident coordinating small groups of soft maintenance volunteers. Fort Wayne Trails will assist Project-leaders in the scheduling of volunteers to work on projects on a case-by-case basis. They will also be responsible for reporting back to us when a project has been completed.

While the long term goal for the program is to have an equipment library, initially volunteers may be asked to bring some of their own equipment, including items such as weed-whackers, trimmers or leaf blowers. A list of equipment needs will be included in the project description. Due to the nature of the work, previous experience with lawncare tools is preferred. This is a physically demanding role that may involve bending, lifting, and extended periods of outdoor activity.

Maintenance volunteering will be on a project-to-project basis.
