FWT Celebrates Cedar Creek Parks Trail Expansion

Fort Wayne Trails joined the Allen County Commissioners, Allen County Council, the Town of Grabill, the Town of Leo-Cedarville, NewAllen Alliance, and other trail partners to celebrate the newest sections of the Cedar Creek Parks Trail with a ribbon cutting.

The ribbon cutting will celebrates the completion of 0.45 new miles of the Cedar Creek Parks Trail from Grabill Road to the Leo-Grabill Sports Complex in Grabill, and 0.5 miles of trail connecting Metea Park North to existing trail at Hursh Road and Halter Road in Leo-Cedarville. This brings the total trail length to just under 5.5 miles!

The Cedar Creek Parks Trail projects represent a significant investment in the community, totaling nearly $5.4 million. Funding for the initiative has been made possible through contributions from multiple stakeholders, including $796,489 from Leo-Cedarville, $1.5 million from the Allen County Fort Wayne Capital Improvement Board, $2.9 million from Allen County, and $200,000 from Grabill. This collaborative effort underscores a shared commitment to enhancing local parks and recreational opportunities, fostering connectivity, and improving the quality of life for residents.

This project was one of the NewAllen Alliance complementary projects that won the Regional Stellar Designation in 2018.
