The Ribbon is Officially Cut on the “Golden Spike’!
This week we celebrated what will likely be one of the most significant ribbon cuttings in Fort Wayne Trails’ history. Alongside the City of Fort Wayne, state officials, local businesses, donors, friends, and more, we officially opened the new 1.7-mile section of the Pufferbelly Trail known as the “Golden Spike.”
This trail segment stretches from Ice Way to Washington Center Road. With the Vann Family Crossing Bridge scheduled to begin construction in 2026, this connection will unite more than 130 miles of trail throughout our community, bringing residents closer together than ever before. The Vann Family Crossing, along with new lighting and pedestrian infrastructure at Washington Center and Industrial Road, will provide safe passage through one of the highest-traffic areas in both the city and the state.
This project creates a new gateway to downtown, shopping, festivals, restaurants, concerts, parks, and so much more. We are incredibly grateful to play a role in efforts like this and for the partnerships and relationships that make projects of this scale possible.
All of this is thanks to our donors and supporters who fuel our fundraising and advocacy work, allowing us to continue connecting the residents of Allen County, one trail at a time.
